5 Ways to Use Email Marketing to Boost Sales

Email marketing is a great way to keep your business top of mind with customers and prospects so that they think of you when they need what you offer. It can also help to drive desired actions, like sales or engagement.

When it comes to ecommerce, one of the best ways to boost your sales is with targeted and personalized email. You can do this by offering discounts and special offers or using cross-selling and upselling tactics to increase your average order value. Email also gives you the opportunity to promote your products and services on other channels, including social media and your website.

To get the most out of your email marketing, make sure to follow best practices for both your delivery and your content. This includes following email deliverability best practices to ensure that your emails get delivered to your subscribers’ inboxes. You should also use responsive design principles to ensure that your emails look good on both desktop and mobile devices. And finally, use eye-catching graphics to grab your subscribers’ attention and to make your emails more visually engaging.

In addition, it is important to create and send emails that are both timely and relevant.

To do this, you can use triggered emails, which are emails that are sent out from a marketing automation tool or CRM based on user engagement with your website. For example, if a subscriber visits your product or service pages but doesn’t purchase anything, you can trigger an automated email to help nudge them over the line.

This can be especially effective if you use an upsell offer, which is an offer to purchase an upgraded version of your product or service that has additional features or benefits.

You can also improve the relevance of your emails by using segmentation to categorize your audience based on different qualities or interests. For example, you can tag contacts who check a box while making a purchase as “customers,” and tags that indicate interest in your products or services as “prospects.” This will allow you to send highly relevant email content without having to sort through each contact’s individual attributes by hand.

Once you have a list of email addresses, you can start to create email autoresponder sequences that will nurture your relationship with customers and prospects.

However, it’s crucial to remember that writing copy for this channel isn’t about you – it’s about your customer and what will give them value. Use customer research, data analytics and customer feedback to guide your autoresponder series to ensure it is delivering what your audience needs to take action.

Don’t forget to provide a way for people to manage their subscription so that they can opt out of receiving your emails, rather than accidentally reporting you as spam. This will show that you are respecting your audience and their preferences, which is the best way to build trust. Unsubscribe rates are normal, so don’t be afraid to let go of subscribers who no longer want to hear from you.

Sales Funnels

Check out my recent post on sales funnels and what I think about them. Are they still worth it?

John Sammartino is an expert in sales and personal coaching. He has written academic papers on What Makes a Great Salesperson from a psychological perspective. He has achieved a number of awards for Top Sales for himself and the teams he has coached.

John met the love of his life; Janine, in 1988 and they married in 1994. John and Janine have three wonderful children and currently have three beautiful Grandchildren.

Although John had a pretty successful career as a Mid-Senior Level Sales Executive he never realized how much of his family life he missed out on until he was injured, herniating 17 out of 33 discs in his spine in 2013. Since then has suffered from permanent nerve damage which causes deliberating pain in his back, legs and arms along with many other issues that prevent him from working a normal 40 hour work week never mind the 50-60 hr weeks he was used to.

It was a rude awakening for John and Janine as they noticed that the nest egg you save along with 401k investments doesn't last long when you can no longer work. It wasn't long before they were accumulating a mass of debt and the bank was coming for their home. John decided that he had to reinvent himself and find a way to provide for his family somehow working from home only a few hours a week when he was up to the task.

Determined to adapt his sales and marketing knowledge from a brick and mortar perspective to the Digital, Internet, and Affiliate Marketing field in order to start a steady side hustle. Unfortunately, John and Janine found themselves getting ripped off by many of those so called “Guru’s”. They spent more then they should have on bogus programs promising the moon but always falling short on delivering. He spent countless hours researching and listening to everyone claiming to of “Cracked the Code” and introducing the next best thing to sliced bread.

Being raised in a traditional household, it was ingrained in him that it is his responsibility to provide. John Saw the concern in his wife eyes, she knew he felt emasculated and depressed because he was unable to provide the way he used to. He was tired of seeing his family having to do without, eating one to many mac`n`cheese dinners because it was the cheapest meal.

This gave John the iron will not only to succeed in his quest to make money online but to accumulate generational wealth for his family and future family. Soon he found himself making some good side money but that was only the beginning…
